Ararat RSL

Staff friendly and polite, the mushroom soup was lovely but the chicken schnitzel was dry and tasteless. Just over an hour for food to arrive. We were not told it would take that long. Would have preferred to be told at the start the chef could not cook the meals within a reasonable time. We were given a table at 7pm so it should not have been a problem.

Ararat RSL is a wonderful freshly and newly decorated space that divides the whole space into a dining room, small casual bar, and separate room for events and function. It even has a separate area for small party functions. Someone has put a lot of time and effort into making it a welcoming area for anyone who wants to spend time in the RSL. I had a great time with everyone on a knife-edge during the Womens World Cup that put the Matildas into the play-off.

Food was amazing, good little play ground for kids. However staff interaction was foul, a older ladie that worked there named Margaret yelled at another worker Hayley because she went into a booked room and gave them menus, she apprantly shouldn’t of done that, but instead of saying it nicely, Margaret went off right where my table was and I instantly felt so sad and yuck for Haylee, all night Haylee was working trying to get jobs done, while a lot where lounging around doing not much. Even if she shouldn’t have done that, explain nicely and maybe it could have been dealt with nicer.

I rang the RSL around 4.30pm on a Sunday to see if we could book for tea. The lady I spoke to said not until after 7.30pm as they were booked out. I explained to her that we driven up for the day for a visit hadn't eaten all day and had a 5 hour trip home so after 7.30pm would be to late for us. She asked where are you now so I told her, "come straight here to us and I'll make sure you get fed" is what she said. We only had a simple choice of food and had to eat and then move on but that was OK with me. We both got a Parma and it was really nice. I thought to myself. This is how hospitality use to be! It was just such a genuine and nice thing to do for people you don't know. I did find that with the limited time that I spent in Ararat that the people were so nice and super helpful. If it wasn't so far out in the sticks I would move here just to be around nice people again. This is something I miss as I'm getting older. So after we ate we had a quick play of the pokies And on our way home we went. 😁
